A Conversation with Green Toys President and CEO, Robert von Goeben

When I was putting together the Green Toys PLR pack I learned that their customers absolutely love the company and its U.S. manufactured toys made of 100% recycled materials. They commented on the durability of the products over and over, noting that when the toys do eventually wear out, they can go directly into the recycle bin instead of the landfill-bound trash bin.

For the most part Green Toys customers seem to agree that these positives trump any minor design flaws. Even so, there were a couple of design issues that came up in the reviews:

  •         Tires on their line of trucks occasionally failing to roll on hardwoods
  •         Leaking of their Tea Pot

I called the customer service line to ask how the company is handling these issues. On Friday I was able to talk with Robert von Goeben, President and CEO of Green Toys.

Robert is very personable and he was also quite candid about these design issues. If you’ve purchased the Green Toys PLR review pack, or if you’re considering getting it, I think you can feel really good about promoting these products on your site.

So here’s what Robert said:

  • Green Toys Trucks: Their design team is aware of the issue and they’re working to improve the trucks; however the toys are made by using an expensive die and since the large majority of their customers love these trucks even with the occasional wheel-turning issue, the new design won’t be implemented until the die needs replacing.

Robert noted that some of their other vehicles have no trouble rolling on any surface. These include the Green Toys School Bus and the Green Toys Race Car.

  • Green Toys Tea Set: Like their line of trucks, the Green Toys Tea Set is a popular toy with a design flaw – the tea pot apparently leaks. Even with the leaking, the toy is one of their most popular items. So much so that the die is wearing out and a new one is being made with a new design that eliminates the leakage issue.

Robert said he anticipates the redesigned Tea Set to be available in January of 2012. He also stated that the company quickly replaces any truck or Tea Set a customer is dissatisfied with.
